Leicester has a sound sporting history and boasts many teams that have been successful and well known throughout the media.
Leicester City football Club is the main football team and they play home games in the Walkers Stadium. At time of writing they are playing in the Championship and have been in Division one for a while as well. Walkers Stadium has a capacity of over thirty two thousand and was built in the year 2002. Today it stands as an impressive sports venue and you can always find tickets for home games.
For cricket the city has its own county standard team which is the Leicestershire County Cricket Club. The T20 and limited over team is called the Leicester Foxes. Their home ground is Grace Road which was established in 1878. It has a capacity of over twelve thousand and although it does not international games, it did in fact host a few games in the 1999 world Cup.
